Ludlow is a town in Shropshire, situated close to the border between England and Wales. It lies within a bend of the River Teme, forming an area of 350 acres (1.4 km²) about a small hill. The crest of this rise formed the site of the castle and market place of the original town, and from there the streets of the medieval town sloped downward to the Teme, or northward toward the Corve tributary.
